Listen Ear™ Personal Noise Dose Meter
The Listen Ear™ Personal Noise Dose Meter (PED-0828) offers a new approach to Personal Sound Exposure Meters (PSEMs)
With the long term effects of noise harm now better understood and employers facing legal action for failing to provide adequate protection, damage to hearing from noisy workplaces is governed by ever more stringent Health & Safety at work regulations in most countries.
The Listen Ear™ – Personal Noise Dose Meter provides constant monitoring of a worker’s environment and warns the wearer when they approach, or exceed their daily permitted safe dose. A clear LCD display allows for the easy view of instantaneous noise level and total noise exposure and with the addition of an optional external microphone the Listen Ear™ Personal Noise Dose Meter can also be worn under protective clothing.
Containing a Class 2 sound level meter, temperature and humidity sensors in a compact design, Listen Ear™ produces a daily report of the work environment logging Sound, Temperature, Humidity and Movement. Data is available to download as a simple text file for viewing on a PC. An optional App lets you configure, control and monitor Listen Ear™ via Mobile Application connectivity.
This revolutionary design simulates the effect of wearing ear defenders and contains A, C & Z-weighting filters to mimic the frequencies heard by the human ear. The battery time of 160 hours gives you 4 working weeks of use, helping employers and employees comply to the ‘Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (UK)’.
Noise Protection is now “Category III PPE” – Protect your employees to ensure they are not exposed above the occupational health and safety legal noise pollution limits.
Listen Ear™ Noise Dose Meters monitor for employee exposure to noise throughout the working day, letting them know when the Occupational Health and Safety Legal Noise Protection Limit has been reached. For employers this affordable Personal Noise Dose Meter is a cost effective way to avoid expensive compensation claims for industrial hearing loss.

Unique Features

Optional Klick Fast System
The Klick Fast System designed by Peter Jones (ILG) Ltd gives users the option of where, and how, to carry their devices. The slim, durable connector at the heart of the Klick Fast System can be added to the Listen Ear™ – Personal Noise Dose Meter as an optional alternative to the standard clip.

With the Klick Fast System connector attached you can simply slide the Listen Ear™ – Personal Noise Dose Meter into a Klick Fast Dock. Once docked, the Noise Dose Meter will remain held in place whilst being rotated it into any of the seven positions available with Klick Fast’s in-built ratchet positioner.
Un-docking the Noise Dose Meter takes just seconds by simply rotating it into an inverted position and letting it slide free.

Klick Fast Dock Options
There is a Klick Fast dock available for any situation and once located on a strap, belt, item of clothing or even bicycle handlebars it can be used to securely hold any device or case fitted with the Klick Fast connector. Below are some of the available docks with more available at Peter Jones (ILG) Ltd. For further information please visit the Peter Jones (ILG) Ltd website www.peterjonesilg.co.uk

Anti-Knock & Vibration System
A major problem encountered with personal noise dosimeters is distinguishing between true audio impulse noise and extraneous mechanical ‘tapping’ on the personal noise dosimeter casing. The introduction of a Patented Knock and Vibration Cancelling Technology (Patent No: GB 2 551 724) to the Listen Ear™ provides an additional level of accuracy to the final result. The Listen Ear™ can detect and eliminate the mechanical tapping noise, therefore the noise exposure measured and recorded is an actual representation of that environment. Number of detected ‘knocks’ is recorded and stored in the report file. The Anti-Knock & Vibration System is not active when the External microphone is connected.

Simulate the effect of wearing ear defenders
If you wish to use your Listen Ear™ whilst wearing hearing protection, then this is possible by inputting the SNR attenuation figure from the specification of your hearing defender or ear plug into the instrument setup. The Listen Ear™ will take note of the new setting and give exposure readings as if measuring at your ear inside the hearing defender earmuff and not outside in the external environment.

Motion detection
This feature monitors the Listen Ear™ motion status. It will detect if the unit is not worn during the recording session. The ‘non motion’ event will be detected if the unit is stationary for at least 10 seconds. Number of events and summary of ‘no motion’ time is recorded in the report file.
Mobile App
The Listen Ear™ can be controlled by an android application. The app allows starting and stopping a measurement, displaying the current measurement results and time history graph.
